Gift giving season will be here before you know it. While sewists and quilters definitely have wish lists filled with quilting fabrics and kits, sewing tools and machines, and patterns and books, there’s something to be said for singular experiences. Why not give your favorite quilter something they can’t find anywhere else?
Thimbles’ clubs make a fantastic gift for the quilter in your life. Many of the clubs we’ve scheduled for 2023 are year-long affairs, so it’s truly the gift that keeps on giving. Attendees will grow their sewing, quilting, and machine embroidery skills and walk away with fabulous quilts and projects. And if you are the quilter in your life, feel free to forward these gift ideas to loved ones.
Looking for smaller gifts and stocking stuffers? Don’t forget to sign up for our newsletter to celebrate the 12 Days of Christmas. For the first 12 days of December, we’re sending our newsletter subscribers daily specials on tools and kits in the Thimbles store. It’s first come, first served, so once the daily deal is gone, that’s it. Join our mailing list by scrolling to the bottom of our website and entering your email.
Now let’s talk about some of our 2023 clubs!
Thimbles Clubhouse 2023 - Solare Quilt
The 2023 Thimbles Clubhouse Quilt pattern is Solare by Bound to be Quilting using Banyan Batiks from Northcott Fabrics. Thimbles Clubhouse is based on the Block of the Month concept, so this gorgeous quilt contains multiple blocks ranging from beginner to intermediate level. But no matter your skill level, you can make this quilt because with Clubhouse, we’re here to help.
Clubhouse members meet monthly to make their blocks together, but it’s more than just quilting and sewing. We serve refreshments, provide educational opportunities to expand your quilting skills, do a little show and tell, and run door prizes. There’s always something exciting and fun on the monthly agenda, including bonus projects, demos, and more. We usually meet on the last Thursday or last Saturday of the month at 10 am. And we offer virtual options as well for those who can’t attend in-person. You can also choose to make the quilt with us or simply be a "Club Only" member, which means you won’t make the quilt, just the extra projects. There are no penalties if you miss a club meeting—we hold all handouts and patterns for you to pick up at your convenience.

Kimberbell Embroidery of the Month Club
The Kimberbell 2023 Embroidery of the Month Club is a great opportunity for embroiderers of all skill levels. As with Clubhouse, we meet monthly on the last Thursday or Saturday of the month, after Clubhouse. Each month features a different, seasonal Kimberbell embroidery project, but this club is also more than just the projects. There are kits available to purchase, we encourage show and tell of any Kimberbell projects you’re working on, and we have lots of tips and techniques to keep you inspired. You don’t need to bring your machine, either—we do all the heavy lifting with a short presentation and demo.
Right now and until December 31, 2022, you can sign up for a discounted price of $75 for the whole year. After December 31, the price rises to $99. Club members also receive 15% off all Kimberbell products for the entire year!

Riley Blake Bench Pillow of the Month Club
Riley Blake is back in 2023 with an adorable Bench Pillow of the Month Club. Each month features a beautiful keepsake box and bench pillow designed by one of your favorite quilt designers like Diary of a Quilter’s Amy Smart.
The kits include the pattern and fabric for the pillow top and binding, and the toppers finish at 16” x 38”. Members are charged once a month, and registration for the club covers the first month’s charge.

Tequila Lime Quilt Event with Jodie Madison
The Tequila Lime Quilt Event is a quick, concentrated club in 2023, taking place over the course of 4 days in June. A “heavy pour,” if you will, versus some of our year-long clubs, which are more for those who like to nurse their drinks.
From June 14-17, 9:30 am - 4:30 pm, Tequila Lime attendees will join certified Judy Niemeyer instructor Jodie Madison to learn paper piecing techniques to make the above quilt. There are two color options, the dark tropical version seen above (Hydrangea) and a light color option (Harbor; click the link to view).
Besides learning basic paper piecing methods, students will also learn techniques for sewing curves, paper piecing curves, and how to stay organized. The quilt measures 68” x 68”, but the design can be expanded to a queen-size quilt (99” x 99”). This 4-day club includes lunch and all-day fun.
Register yourself or someone else for Tequila Lime.
Sleep in Your Own Bed Retreats
Another bite-sized club to keep an eye on for 2023 is our Sleep in Your Own Bed Retreat. We’ve had so many signs up and overwhelming interest in these retreats—we have to keep doing them!
The premise is simple: register for a retreat and then come use our classroom space, complete with ironing boards and cutting tables, to work on whatever you’d like. Retreats last 4 days and run from 9:30 am - 8:00 pm and include lunch and dinner. All you need to do is bring your projects and machine. At the end of the day, you go home and sleep in your own bed!
The next round of Sleep in Your Own Bed runs from January 16-19, but we plan on offering retreats in April, July, and October as well.
Watch for future Sleep in Your Own Bed Retreats here and sign up yourself or someone else for January 16-19 here.
